Today, we celebrate the hardworking people who make our community thrive. From teachers and healthcare workers to farmers, construction crews, small business owners, and everyone in between — thank you for your dedication and contributions.

In November 2023, Mesa County Department of Human Services (MCDHS) leadership met to discuss cross-collaboration ideas in an effort to improve the services and support for young adults ages 16-24. Cross-training began a few months later with a vision for the collaborative work between Child Welfare and the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) Program. The population served includes youth and young adults with barriers to achieving safety, stability, and meaningful employment.

Workforce Development Month showcases how workforce initiatives make a difference in Mesa County. The Mesa County Workforce Center (MCWFC) is celebrating with events culminating on Sept. 25th at the MCWFC Open House.

Through the County Attorney's Office and in alliance with several other counties, Mesa County is filing a lawsuit against the State of Colorado and Jared S. Polis, in his official capacity as Governor of Colorado.

During the Aug. 27 public hearing, the commissioners approved Todd Hollenbeck’s employment contract as Mesa County Administrator — Hollenbeck will take the helm on Jan. 4, 2025.

Mesa County Public Health prepares the annual suicide report in collaboration with the Mesa County Coroner and the Mesa County Suicide Prevention Coalition.
