About the Records Unit

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office Records Unit serves as the official central repository for Sheriff's Office records and provides vital services to the public. The Records Unit stores, preserves, and ensures the integrity of these records while also ensuring we serve our community to the highest standard. 

Services

The Records Unit is responsible for processing, maintaining, archiving, retrieving, and releasing information and copies of reports in accordance with federal and state regulations and guidelines.

This unit performs a wide range of duties, including:

  • Arrest records
  • Background checks
  • Case reports
  • Concealed handgun permits
  • Public and criminal fingerprinting

The Records Unit also processes and accepts payments for:

  • Mesa County Code tickets
  • Warrants
  • Bonds 

Criminal Justice Records Requests

The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office releases records in accordance with Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act, C.R.S. 24-72-301, and Colorado Open Records Act, C.R.S. 24-72-201, as it applies to the public records that may exist.

Fee Schedule

Records Fees

Please note that extensive records requests will be subject to an initial deposit of 50% of the estimated fees, due before the request will be processed. 

Audio/Visual Request (Including Body Worn Camera)

$7.50 per 1/4 hour of research/redaction*

*2-hour minimum will be due upfront.

Background Check $5.00 per person
Digital Data Delivery (CD/DVD/Flash Drive) $10.00 per item
Mugshot $3.00 per mugshot
Case/Incident Reports (10 pages or less) $5.00 for first 10 pages
Case/Incident Reports (more than 10 pages) $7.50 per 1/4 hour of research/redaction

Concealed Handgun Permit Application $102.50 (credit/debit card only)*
Concealed Handgun Permit Renewal $48.00 (credit/debit card only)*
Concealed Handgun Permit Replacement/Late Fee $15.00 (credit/debit card only)8
Fingerprints $5.00 per card
Sex Offender Registration - Annual $25
Sex Offender Registration - Initial $75
VIN Inspections (On or Off Site) $10.00

*Concealed Handgun Permit Applications are done online through Permitium which charges the applicant a small processing fee (fee is dependent on the application type).
