The $284,963 Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Action Plan engineering contract was approved today during the Oct. 24 Mesa County Commissioners' administrative public hearing.

The Mesa County Regional Transportation Planning Office (RTPO) requested competitive submittals to complete a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan. Mesa County will receive $227,970 from the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) under the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Program to fund and match the project with $56,992 of local funds.

Action Plans are comprehensive safety plans to reduce and eliminate severe injury and fatal crashes. Action Plans use data analysis to characterize roadway safety problems and strengthen a community's approach through projects and strategies that address the most significant safety risks.

Stay tuned as the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Action Plan moves forward.
