Clifton and Fruitvale will soon be getting freshly sealed roads in some areas following the July 30 public hearing, where the Commissioners approved an $823,721 contract with A-1 Chipseal Co. to apply 11.75 miles of slurry seal to necessary roads.

Slurry seal is a surface treatment applied to existing crack-sealed asphalt. It enhances the pavement by creating a smoother surface and providing protection against deterioration, oxidation, and general wear and tear.

Roads being treated with slurry seal are generally in good condition and not in need of further work — application of the seal will ensure road longevity, make for a more pleasant riding and driving experience, and prevent the need for more substantial repairs in the future.
