Supplies of COVID-19 vaccine limited while waiting for updated vaccine

The Mesa County Public Health Clinic has a limited supply of COVID-19 vaccines remaining for community members who are 12 and older. The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) has ordered a new 2024-2025 formulation of the COVID-19 vaccine to better protect against current variants of the virus. It is expected to be released in September. The previous vaccine is no longer being manufactured.

“We are not alone in this situation. There is decreased availability across the country while we wait for the new formulation. We know the federal government and vaccine makers are working on the updated vaccine, which will be our best tool to protect against the COVID-19 virus,” said Ali Sanchez, Clinical Services Director.

Mesa County Public Health has enough supply for all appointments already scheduled. Our team will not be able to schedule future appointments for residents to receive the COVID-19 vaccine until the updated vaccine is available.
