Food Safety Alert: steamed buns recalled due to allergy concern

Mesa County Public Health (MCPH) has been made aware of a recall involving two varieties of egg custard steamed buns. The products were distributed nationwide through Asian grocery stores, and may have been sold in Mesa County. The food is being recalled because it may contain sesame, an ingredient that was not declared on the packaging. People who are allergic or have a severe sensitivity to sesame may have a serious or even life-threatening reaction if they consume the products.

Description of recalled products

• Steam Buns with Egg Custard with an expiration date of 10/2025.
• Steam Buns with Egg Custard and Coconut Added with an expiration date of 10/2025.
• The products were distributed by Prime Foods Processing LLC between May 30, 2024 and June 28, 2024.
• These frozen items are in bright yellow packaging.

What should consumers do

• Consumers should check their freezers for any of the recalled items.
• Return the products to the store where they were purchased for a refund.

Common symptoms of allergic reaction to food
