Beginning on Aug. 12, 2024, the Clifton Motor Vehicle Office, 3225 I-70 Business Loop, is the only location where larger vehicles and trailers can receive VIN inspections. You can visit the Clifton Motor Vehicle Office or contact your local law enforcement agency to schedule a time for them to come out to your house.

After the transition on Aug. 12, the Mesa County Clerk and Recorder’s Office will no longer conduct VIN inspections on large vehicles or trailers at the main Motor Vehicle office located at 200 S. Spruce Street in Grand Junction. This change is due to a lack of space and traffic congestion in the parking lot.

This change will only impact semis, trailers, motor homes, campers, and other large vehicles.

All light trucks, motorcycles, or passenger vehicles in need of a VIN inspection can go to the following Mesa County Motor Vehicle Offices to complete the service:

  • Central Services

200 S. Spruce Street in Grand Junction

Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • Clifton Satellite Office

3225 I-70BL in Clifton

Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • Fruita Satellite Office

325 E Aspen Ave. in Fruita
